Firelands Chapter of the American Red Cross to Auction First Rides on Cedar Point's Shoot the Rapids
Seats will go to the 30 highest bidders, with bids starting at $75.
Cedar Point Press ReleaseSANDUSKY, Ohio – As Opening Day for Cedar Point draws closer, interest in Shoot the Rapids, Cedar Point’s new water ride, is high. To fuel the excitement, the Firelands Chapter of the American Red Cross is teaming up with Cedar Point amusement park/resort to hold an auction for fun-seekers who want to be among the first riders on the park’s new water ride.
The Red Cross is auctioning seats on Shoot the Rapids to the 30 highest bidders, with bids starting at $75. A winning bid will include a FREE breakfast, a FREE commemorative medallion and T-shirt, the inaugural ride of the season on Shoot the Rapids, and FREE admission to Cedar Point on Opening Day, Saturday, May 15. Successful bidders will select seats, with the highest bidders choosing first. (Appropriate height requirements will be enforced.) Proceeds from the auction will go to fund a variety of Red Cross programs.
Located along the park’s scenic Frontier Trail, Shoot the Rapids will be Cedar Point’s third water ride. The $10.5 million ride will feature two hills and drops. The first hill will be 85 feet tall and will be one of the tallest water-ride-hills in the world. The ride will last approximately three minutes and will end with a splash landing at the bottom of the ride’s 49-foot-tall second hill.
Overall, Cedar Point has 75 rides, including 17 roller coasters, more rides and more coasters than any park in the world. The park also offers a variety of live shows, including an ice skating show featuring Snoopy and his pals in the Good Time Theatre. Young families will be able to enjoy four special areas, including Planet Snoopy and Camp Snoopy. This summer, the park will celebrate two major milestones: the 10th anniversary of the Millennium Force roller coaster and the 60th anniversary of the PEANUTS comic strip.
