SANDUSKY, Ohio, May 27  -- Music, colored lights, high-flying skaters and more will add to excitement at Cedar Point during the Memorial Day Weekend at the Sandusky, Ohio, amusement park/resort.  Next door, the Soak City water park will also open for the summer.

On Sunday and Monday, May 30-31, free admission will be offered to active, honorably discharged and retired members of the military with a valid ID.  They can also purchase the Picnic at the Point meal at half-price all weekend long.  Family members can also buy reduced admission tickets at the military discount.  

Cedar Point and Soak City will be one of 11 amusement parks and six waterparks owned and operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company to host its Tribute to the Armed Forces this weekend.  

Beginning Saturday, May 29, four shows and the Starlight Experience will open for the season.  New this summer will be Grand Ole Country in the Palace Theatre, which will feature country classics.  With rollerbladers, dancers and gymnasts, All Wheels Extreme returns to the Extreme Sports Stadium while PEANUTS' fans will be able to enjoy Charlie Brown's Funtime Frolics and Happy Birthday Snoopy show in the Camp Snoopy Theatre.  

Using more than 1 million LED lights, the Starlight Experience will open for its second season.  The themed lighted walkway will open at twilight and will be presented Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening, May 28-30 and nightly beginning Friday, June 4.

Guests can also enjoy a great meal during Memorial Day Weekend.  The Picnic at the Point will feature an all-you-can-eat meal of broiled Johnsonville brats, fried chicken, hot dogs, baked rigatoni, potato salad, baked beans, cookies, ice cream and assorted Pepsi beverages.  The meal will be available Saturday from 5:30-7 p.m.; Sunday from 4:30-6:30 p.m.; and from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on Monday.  Tickets can be purchased online at cedarpoint.com or at the park's admission gates.

Adjacent to Cedar Point, the Soak City waterpark will also open Saturday and will be open daily through Labor Day, Monday Sept. 6.  The 18-acre water park has more than a dozen water slides, a 500,000-gallon wave pool and two children's areas.
