Top NHRA Drivers to Visit Cedar Point

SANDUSKY, Ohio --- Imagine experiencing the speed and excitement of Cedar Point’s Top Thrill Dragster every day.  On Monday, June 28, the Sandusky, Ohio, amusement park/resort will have seven special guests who thrive on a thrill just like Top Thrill Dragster, sometimes faster, on a regular basis.   

From 1:30-2:30 p.m. on Monday, June 28, five of the National Hot Rod Association’s (NHRA) top drivers will meet race fans and sign autographs on the midway near Top Thrill Dragster.

Visiting Cedar Point on Monday will be:

  • Tony Pedregon: He is second in NHRA career victories with 43.  In 2009, he won three of eight final rounds in Funny Car class (Chicago, Englishtown, N.J., and Brainerd, Minn.).
  • Bob Tasca : Raced to his first win of the year (third in his career) in the 41st Annual NHRA SuperNationals Funny Car class in Englishtown, N.J., earlier this month.
  • Larry Dixon:  Currently tied for ninth on the NHRA all-time wins list with 48.  He finished second in the 2009 NHRA FTS TF Championship.
  • Antron Brown: In 2009, he swept the Western Swing, earning him the “Quest for the Full Throttle Moment” for the season.
  • David Grubnic:  In 2009, he reached the quarterfinals at Reading, Pa., and competed in five of the last nine events.
  • Doug Kalitta:  Advanced to Countdown to 1 for second straight year in 2009.
  • Del Worsham:  In 2009, he made his first appearance in the Countdown to 1 playoffs and set career-best for time and speed.

All of the drivers will be competing in the NHRA Nationals this weekend at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk.
