SANDUSKY, Ohio – Boating is big in the Lake Erie Islands region (the Ohio counties of Erie, Ottawa and Huron boast some of the highest densities of boats per acre of water in the entire Midwest) and more than 50 of the area’s dealers and marine businesses will try to capitalize on its popularity at the North American In-Water Boat Show presented by Toyota Trucks, Sept. 15-19 at Cedar Point.

The event has grown considerably since it was first held in 1973 and will be the largest in-water boat show on the Great Lakes this year.

All the boats will be open for boarding on interconnected docks, so visitors will be able to walk out on the water, get a drink at the Party Barge and even use the floating restrooms before returning to land.

“The timing and location are perfect,” said show manager Ken Alvey. “When the boating season starts to wrap up around here, dealers will offer some of their best prices. Buyers then can use the fall and winter to get their new purchases ready to launch first-thing next spring.”

Visitors will have the opportunity to test drive certain models on the Demo Dock and shop for bargains in the Boats Under $15,000 and Boats $15,000-25,000 pavilions.

There will even be a chance to win an overnight stay at Sawmill Creek Resort at the Buffalo Wild Wings/WKFM chicken wing eating contest on Saturday.

Admission will be $9, children 12 and younger will get in free.

The show will be open noon to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
