Cedar Point Press Release
SANDUSKY, Ohio – On Aug. 31, 1910, aviation history was made on the Cedar Point Beach.
On that day, pioneer pilot Glenn Curtiss flew from Euclid Beach Park in Cleveland and landed almost directly in front of the Hotel Breakers at Cedar Point. Flying his Albany Flyer, Curtiss covered the 65 miles in one hour and 17 minutes.
The trip established a new world record for an over-the-water flight.
One hundred years to the day, Cedar Point will commemorate that historical event with a special ceremony at the Hotel Breakers on the Cedar Point Beach. The ceremony will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 31.
