NHRA drivers to visit Cedar Point
Drivers will meet race fans on June 27 near Top Thrill Dragster from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Cedar Point Press ReleaseSANDUSKY, Ohio – Fresh from competing at this weekend’s NHRA Nationals, some of the best dragster drivers in the world will stop at Cedar Point where they will be able to challenge a dragster of a different kind –the Top Thrill Dragster to be exact.
On Monday, June 27, four of the National Hot Rod Association’s (NHRA) top drivers will meet race fans and sign autographs on Cedar Point’s midway near the Top Thrill Dragster from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Visiting Cedar Point on Monday will be:
- Tony Pedregon: Second in NHRA career victories and a two-time NHRA Nitro Funny Car Champion (2007 & 2003). In 2010 he finished in the Top 10 point standings for the 15th consecutive season;
- Bob Tasca: Qualified in 22 of 24 events in his Funny Car debut in 2008. Since then he has five career wins and finished in the Top Five in point standings;
- Larry Dixon: Earned his third Full Throttle Series world championship title as well as a record of 12 races in 12 finals last season;
- Antron Brown: In 2008, he became the only driver in NHRA history to win races in both Top Fuel and Pro Stock Motorcycle in the same year.
The NHRA is the largest motorsports-sanctioned body in the world. It has more than 80,000 members, 5,000 track events and 35,000 licensed competitors. Annually, its national events attract more than 2 million fans.
All of the drivers will be competing in the NHRA Nationals at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk this weekend. It will be the fifth consecutive year it has hosted the event.
