Cedar Point Press Release
SANDUSKY, Ohio, -- Visits from Santa Claus, special choir concerts, Christmas crafts and appearances from Snoopy and the Gang will highlight the holiday festivities when the new-look Castaway Bay, Cedar Point’s year-round indoor waterpark resort, will reopen for the winter on Friday, Dec. 16.
Located on the waterfront in Sandusky, Ohio, Castaway Bay is the ideal location for a fun-filled family holiday celebration. Its 38,000-square-foot indoor waterpark is a balmy 82 degrees everyday. Plus, free wireless internet is now available in all guest rooms and throughout the hotel, while new carpeting has been installed in all rooms and hallways. New equipment and flat-screened TVs have also been added to the fitness center.
To save money, Black Friday -- the Castaway Bay way -- is in effect throughout the year. The 237-room facility has several deals that are designed for families. The Fun Times Family Package includes overnight accommodations, family pizza, four free Color-Your-Own backpacks or T-shirts, arcade discounts and a family photo with a PEANUTS character -- all for one low price -- while the Free Breakfast Package starts the day with a complimentary hearty breakfast. All packages include complimentary all-day admission to the waterpark.
Several special activities are also planned each day of the holiday season. Between Friday, Dec. 16 through Wednesday, Dec.21, several Sandusky-area choirs and bands will perform holiday favorites. The concerts will begin at 6 p.m. and will last for approximately 30 minutes.
Each night through Christmas Eve there will be a tree-lighting show while a sing-along with Snoopy will be held nightly through Dec. 30. Santa will also visit Castaway Bay every day Saturday, Dec. 17 through Friday, Dec. 23. On most nights, guests will also be able to join Snoopy for free hot chocolate in the lobby at 10 p.m.
The fun will continue into the New Year as Castaway Bay will also host special events on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. On New Year’s Eve, there will be a parade with Snoopy, a Kids’ Dance Party and a New Year’s Eve Balloon Drop while a PEANUTS Dance Party and a PEANUTS Movie and Bedtime Story will be held on New Year’s Day.
In addition to all of the holiday fun, families will find even more to do at the indoor waterpark and the activity centers. Water-lovers will be able to submerge themselves in fun with a variety of attractions that range from the Rendezvous Run water coaster, the 100,000-gallon Castaway Bay Wave Pool and the Lookout Lagoon Family Funhouse. For the little ones, Toddler’s Tide Pool is an ideal location to splash and slide.
After drying off, younger children will be able to enter coloring contests, decorate a Christmas stocking or just play games or read a book at Camp Castaway. The activity list at Club Castaway includes decorating cookies and tree treats and Color Your Own T-shirts, Backpacks and Towels. A huge arcade is located just outside the waterpark.
Other amenities include The Spa at Castaway Bay that offers massages, facials, waxings and manicures and pedicures while the remodeled fitness center now features flat-screened TVs, treadmills, elliptical machines and stationary bikes.
For added convenience, near the resort’s lobby are two different gift shops and three eateries, while a fourth, T.G.I. Fridays, is just down the hallway. For more information about Castaway Bay and its holiday packages and festivities, please visit castawaybay.com or call 419.627.2106.
