SANDUSKY, Ohio, May 24, 2012 -- Canada's fastest-rising star is now skyrocketing to fame in the United States, and this summer she's making a stop at Cedar Point!

The park is thrilled to welcome Carly Rae Jepsen, who will perform a live show for all Cedar Point's guests July 7.

Cedar Point, Pepsi Beverages and 96.5 KISS-FM are bringing Jepsen to highlight the park's new nighttime show, Luminosity, Powered by Pepsi.

"Luminosity is all about creating a buzz throughout the park with dancing, contemporary music and surprises that bring a new energy onto the midway when the sun goes down," Cedar Point General Manager and Vice President John Hildebrandt said. "Bringing in a magnetic performer like Jepsen will really add to that excitement."

Her music video for the song has attracted more than 65 million viewers since it was released in March.

She recently signed to Justin Bieber's label, School Boy Records, but she's been building a following in Canada since her 2007 run on Canadian Idol. She's already racked up two gold-certified singles and won the Canadian Radio Music Award for Song of the Year in 2010.

"We knew her popularity was going to explode," said Ross Phillips, regional marketing manager for Pepsi Beverages, who began making arrangements early this year to bring Jepsen to Cedar Point. "Pepsi is all about music - we've worked with top artists including Britney Spears, Michael Jackson and now Nicki Minaj - and Carly Rae was the perfect fit. Her songs are feel-good tracks that will have everyone singing along."

A competition between Northeast Ohio's five leading dance crews, sponsored by Cleveland's 96.5 KISS-FM, will usher in Jepsen's appearance at Cedar Point's new Celebration Plaza in front of the Iron Dragon roller coaster.

Dance crews can submit audition videos at kisscleveland.com.

The dance-off will run from 5-7 p.m. July 7, and Jepsen will take the Celebration Plaza stage with her band after the competition. Cedar Point's live show, Luminosity, will begin shortly after Jepsen's performance.

Although guests won't want to miss Carly Rae Jepsen's exclusive concert, they can catch Luminosity at Celebration Plaza each night beginning June 1. A grand opening will officially launch the show June 8.

Cedar Point will be open daily through Labor Day, Sept. 3, plus Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays, Sept. 7 through Oct. 28. For a complete operating calendar and more information about the 2012 operating season, guests can log on to www.cedarpoint.com or call the park's general information line at (419) 627-2350.
