Cedar Point Press Release

SANDUSKY, Ohio, July 24, 2012 -- To help celebrate Christmas in July, Cedar Point is filling its stockings with events and filling its guests' pockets with savings as the summer vacation destination announces its upcoming promotions.

Christmas in July
Tuesday, July 24 through Thursday, July 26, 2012
Cedar Point is partnering with Toys for Tots and The United States Marine Corps to collect toys that will be distributed during Christmas time. From Tuesday, July 24 through Thursday, July 26, guests who bring a new and unwrapped toy to the park will receive a $15 coupon off a regular one-day admission ticket to Cedar Point to help celebrate Christmas in July. (Some restrictions apply.)

Retired and active U.S. Marine Corps volunteers will collect toys for the U.S. Marines' Toys for Tots campaign during the three-day-long event. Toys for Tots will store gifted items until the holiday season, when parents will be able to "shop" for children's toys at select distribution centers. (Donations must be worth $5 or more.)

SCOTT Firefighter Challenge
Friday, July 27 through Sunday, July 29, 2012
Imagine scaling a five-story tower, hoisting a hose and rescuing a 175-pound person, all while hauling up to 40 pounds on your back. These feats of strength and endurance are all in a day's work for firefighters, who will put their physical fitness to the test this weekend during the SCOTT Firefighter Combat Challenge at Cedar Point. More than 100 men and women from across the nation will compete in individual and team races at Cedar Point, one of more than 25 events serving as a qualifier for national and world championships this fall.

The SCOTT Firefighter Combat Challenge begins with individual events from 5-9 p.m. Friday, July 27, at Cedar Point's south marina lot. Participants who have not pre-registered online at firefighterchallenge.com may sign up beginning at 3 p.m. that day. Team challenges and a special kids' challenge for children 14 and younger are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 28, in the same location. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

Also this weekend, Cedar Point is offering all firefighters and their families a chance to reconnect and enjoy special savings. All firefighters who present a state-issued identification card at any ticket booth can purchase a $39.99 general admission ticket for themselves and their immediate family members, saving $12 per ticket! The discount is extended to spouses and children only and tickets are valid Friday through Sunday, July 27-29, 2012 only. (Some restrictions apply.)

PEANUTS Be Yourself Week
Monday, July 30 through Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012
Join Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus and the rest of the PEANUTS characters as they join together in "Helping Snoopy's Friends" during PEANUTS Be Yourself Week from Monday, July 30 through Sunday, Aug. 5.

"Helping Snoopy's Friends" not only benefits the animals at the Humane Society of Erie County but participants can save $15 on park admission! Here's how it works. Guests who bring a new pet-related item to Cedar Point between Monday, July 30 and Sunday, August 5 to donate to the Humane Society volunteers will receive a coupon good for $15 off the price on one regular adult admission ticket! The discount is only valid on the day of the donation. (Some restrictions apply.) The Humane Society will graciously accept any new items for their animals and shelter use, although some of their pressing needs are: wet cat food, dry cat and kitten food, clay cat litter, new cat and dog toys, brushes and combs and more.
