Brad Sumser is one of the handful of union carpenters who walk Mean Streak every day during the season, and plenty more times before and after.
On a recent Wednesday morning Sumser and three other carpenters climbed into heavy safety harnesses just after sunrise, fastening themselves in and strapping on tool belts filled with the essentials: graphite spray, several wrenches, a long punch, Vise-Grips, pliers, a roofer’s hammer, tape measure, crescent wrench, wood chisel, ratchet and sockets, drill bits and an assortment of galvanized nuts, bolts and washers.
