Cedar Fair, IntaRide and employees from the Ohio Department of Agriculture’s Division of Amusement Ride Safety continue to investigate a July 19 accident where a Shoot the Rapids boat rolled backward down a hill and turned on its side.

Shoot the Rapids has been inspected by state employees 10 times since the ride debut in 2010. The most recent inspection was in May, when the ride received a satisfactory grade.

An issue with the buoyancy of the ride's boats was addressed before the ride opened in 2010. Modifications to the boats were made by IntaRide, and the state put an eight-person limit into effect.
