Cedar Point's closing over the weekend benefited other area businesses as tourists found other fun spots to spend their day.
After the closure, hundreds of people walked into Lake Erie Shores & Islands tourism center to salvage their weekend visit with other things to do, said Jill Bauer, public relations coordinator for the bureau.
Employees of the tourism center, on hearing the news of the parks closing, immediately starting calling hotels and other businesses to make sure everyone knew what was going on, preparing them for an increase in visitors, she said.
