Force ticket system met with extreme prejudice

Saturday, 24 June 2000

Yesterday Cedar Point initiated an experiment with a "ticket to ride" system that would, in theory anyway, reduce wait times for Millennium Force while increasing ridership on other rides.

So far, the system has only caused confusion, anger and irritation on behalf of guests. Instead of going in to more detail, read this thread in CP Place to see the reaction of our members. There was opposition before it happened, and the reactions since have been less than kind.

One thing that stands out is the comment a park operations employee made to one of the members, "We had to do something, no one was riding the other rides." What? Average waits for The Force have been 90 minutes at the most since deploying three-train operation, which equates to roughly 2,000 people in line. An average day at the park might pull in 35,000 people. So what are the other 33,000 people doing? My guess is that they're spread out among the park's 67 other rides, as well as eating, watching shows and using the little enthusiasts room. Having capacity that's too good is a nice problem to have.
