A majority of Sandusky residents approved an issue to raise the income tax from 1 percent to 1.25 percent, according to unofficial results from Tuesday's election.
The affirmative vote also triggered an increase in the admissions tax rate from 3 percent to 4 percent.
The ballot issue was a compromise that came as a result of meetings between the city, Cedar Point, and a citizen group that was seeking an increase of the admissions tax rate to 6%.
Regardless of the vote, Cedar Fair had previously agreed to give the city of Sandusky $500,000 annually.
