Magnetar Technologies Corp. designs brakes for roller coasters, but it was the company’s patent infringement lawsuit against Cedar Fair and dozens of other amusement parks that ground to a screeching halt this month after some damaging documents surfaced.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on April 17 tossed out Magnetar’s case, which alleged that more than 30 rides with names like Top Thrill Dragster and Kingda Ka infringed on two patents covering magnetic brakes.
