Soak City Opening, New Brew and BBQ Event and Season Pass Deals Also Highlight Memorial Day Weekend Activities

SANDUSKY, Ohio (May 21, 2015) – Cedar Point welcomes in summer with several events this Memorial Day Weekend that salute our Armed Forces, allow guests to soak up the sun, sample new refreshments and delicious barbeque from around the region and save money on a summer of fun at “The Roller Coaster Capital of the World®.”

Cedar Point honors all of the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country during its Armed Forces Weekend. During this special event, all active, retired and honorably-discharged members of the United States military can receive free admission into both Cedar Point and Soak City, with a valid ID, from Friday, May 22 through Monday, May 25. (Valid forms of ID include: active duty ID, retired personnel ID, VA ID or a copy of DD-214 discharge papers and photo ID.) Immediate family members also receive a special discount on admission by purchasing a regular ticket priced at $39.99, a savings of more than $22! Also this weekend, guests can celebrate summer at the opening day for Cedar Point’s splashtacular waterpark, Soak City on Saturday, May 23. Thrill-seekers can cool off from the coasters by floating around and jumping the waves in the half-million gallon Breakers Bay wave pool or catch more thrills with water slides like Dragster H2O and Zoom Flume. There are more than 30 slides and attractions, including two huge kids’ areas, that offer fun for the entire family! Soak City is open daily from May 23 through Sept. 7.

And if that’s not enough, get your taste buds ready for the ride of their life as Cedar Point debuts its new Brew and BBQ event! Located along the shore of Lake Erie in Cedar Point’s new Lakeside Pavilion, guests can sample specialty and craft beers and mouth-watering barbeque May 22-24 and 29-31.

In honor of the park’s 146th season, Brew and BBQ will feature 146 different beers from around the region, including the new RougaBREW, named after Cedar Point’s new floorless coaster. Along with the beer, different types of barbeque such as pulled pork, ribs, Lake Erie catfish fingers and more will be offered with some of the finest sauces from restaurants located at Cedar Point, including Famous Dave’s®, Quaker Steak & Lube® and T.G.I. Fridays®. Cedar Point’s own Toes in the Sand Band will keep the party hopping with great music all evening long.
