Cedar Point Press Release

SANDUSKY, Ohio (May 25, 2016) – Mouth-watering barbeque and amazing craft beers come together with the world’s greatest collection of thrill rides and coasters at Cedar Point’s annual Brew and BBQ event, kicking off this Friday, May 27!

Over 160 micro, craft and specialty beers will be available for sampling in the FrontierTown section of the park, including Cedar Point’s own custom Valravn Session IPA. Some of the more than 55 breweries represented include The Brew Kettle, Rhinegeist, New Belgium, Maumee Bay, Founders Brewing, Dogfish Head, Great Lakes, Goose Island and Kona Brewing.

The wide selection of beer isn’t the only treat, as delicious barbeque samples will be served to complement the hops and grains. Guests can choose items from a “Taste of Carolina,” with pulled pork sliders and Southern slaw or sliced brisket with candied jalapenos; “Texas BBQ,” featuring sliced brisket on Texas toast with rich & sassy barbeque sauce or barbeque carnitas nachos with creamy cheddar, black beans, pickled jalapenos and sour cream; the “Memphis BBQ,” including a barbeque pork shoulder sandwich with coleslaw and smoky barbeque sauce or smoked sausage; and the “Kansas City BBQ,” tempting the taste buds with smokehouse ribs with a wet or dry rub.

Guests can enhance their Brew and BBQ dining experience while discovering how to pair beer and food like an expert at one of the VIP beer and food pairings. Limited tickets are available for these multi-course sessions to be held at 6 and 8 p.m. on May 28-29 and June 10-11. Cost for the pairing is $20 per person and guests must be 21 or over.

Plus, Chef Damaris Phillips from Food Network’s “Southern at Heart” will make a special appearance on Saturday, June 4from 5-6:30 p.m. Impressing judges with her fresh take on Southern cuisine and winning over the audience with her impeccable charm, Southern spitfire Damaris Phillips also outlasted 11 rival competitors to win season nine of “Food Network Star.” Guests can watch her whip up a few quick recipes that incorporate beer and then stay for an autograph signing.

Brew and BBQ begins on Friday, May 27 and runs daily through Sunday, June 12 from 5 p.m. until park close. Guests can save $10 when they purchase their event tickets in advance online for just $20. Event admission includes tickets that can be used for beer and barbeque samples. Event admission does not include admission to Cedar Point, but a combo ticket is available online for $65 plus tax. Admission to the park is required to gain access to Brew and BBQ.

Get set to get wet! Soak City Waterpark, Cedar Point’s splashtacular summer playground, opens this weekend on Saturday, May 28. Guests can challenge the waves in the Breakers Bay wave pool, go on a rafting adventure together on Zoom Flume or take it easy in a poolside cabana. Soak City is open daily May 28 through Sept. 5.

Cedar Point is also honoring all of the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country. During the park’s Armed Forces Weekend, all active, retired and honorably-discharged members of the United States military can receive free admission to Cedar Point and Soak City Waterpark with a valid ID from Friday, May 27 through Monday, May 30.
