RipCord gets new home, new name

Ride will relocate to Frontier Trail and be renamed Professor Delbert's Frontier Fling

On Saturday, Cedar Point's Tony Clark announced a new home and new name for RipCord during the American Coaster Enthusiasts annual No Coaster Con event in Skokie, Ill. 

The ride, now known as Professor Delbert's Frontier Fling, has been relocated to Frontier Trail on the site of the former Shoot The Rapids ride. It was moved from its former location to make way for the Cedar Point Shores waterpark expansion.

The new name is a nod to the park's history. The Delbert Feinstein character was a local inventor originally featured on Paddlewheel Excursions. He now returns every HalloWekeends as part of the Maniacal, Mechanical Screamworks fright zone.

Professor Delbert's Frontier Fling will be an extra charge attraction when it opens with the park in May.
