Tourism plays big role in local economy

New report highlights the benefits of tourism in Erie and Ottawa counties.

According to a new report from Lake Erie Shores & Islands, tourism accounts for more than 11 million visits to Erie and Ottawa counties and generates $2.1 billion in annual sales. The tourism industry supports almost 14,000 jobs, generates $24.6 million in sales taxes, and produces $6.8 million in lodging taxes each year.
