Cedar Fair, L.P. officially files for tax abatement

Cedar Fair, L.P. has officially filed its tax abatement request with the city of Sandusky, the Sandusky Register reported.

The application indicated that the project would create an additional 60 jobs, 20 full-time and 40 seasonal, according to the Register. It would also stop the Radisson Harbour Inn from losing money during the off-season. The application states that Cedar Fair has been considering making the Radisson a seasonal hotel.

The application also stated that construction on the expansion, including the 35,000 square-foot indoor water park, could being as soon as September and be finished in December, 2004. The $21 million project would consist of $10 million for machinery and equipment, $8 million for new construction, and $1.5 million for the acquisition of buildings.

Cedar Fair is seeking a 10-year, 75 percent tax abatement. This is the first time the company has applied for a tax abatement.
