Safety Man of the Year Award Announced

The National Association of Amusement Ride Safety Officials has announced that Ron Fussner, corporate director of loss prevention for Cedar Fair, L.P., which owns and operates Cedar Point and five other amusement parks and waterparks, was recently named the "Jimmy Floyd Safety Man of the Year" at their annual safety seminar in Charlotte, N.C.

The "Jimmy Floyd Safety Man of the Year" award is given to the person who has dedicated the most to amusement park safety for the previous year. The award is named after the late Jimmy Floyd of Cumberland Valley Shows based out of Lebanon, Tenn. The award recognizes an individual who has promoted safety issues and concerns within the amusement park industry.

NAARSO was developed in 1985 to promote safety within the amusement industry. The organization currently has more than 700 members and has gained recognition across the country for its certification program. The program is currently recognized by numerous states in identifying those individuals with the knowledge of the amusement industry and safety concerns. NAARSO's annual safety seminar is held to provide training on inspection processes and to communicate new safety guidelines.

Fussner has been with Cedar Fair since 1980 and has more than 30 years of experience in the amusement park industry. In his current position, Fussner is in charge of coordinating the safety policies and programs for Cedar Fair. He is also an active member of the Sandusky Area Safety Council. Fussner currently resides in Huron, Ohio, with his wife Wanda.
