Cedar Point Press Release
SANDUSKY, Ohio, Dec. 17, 2003 - Cedar Point amusement park/resort has announced that it has changed the name of the recently purchased Harbour Marina to Castaway Bay Marina. Conveniently located on the eastern end of Sandusky Bay, adjacent to the Radisson Harbour Inn hotel and T.G.I. Friday's restaurant, Castaway Bay Marina gives boat lovers yet another location to drop anchor when visiting Ohio's North Coast.
"We felt it was important to start fresh with a new name with the change in ownership, and Castaway Bay Marina is a logical choice since it will be adjoining the Castaway Bay indoor waterpark resort," said Wayne Olcott, vice president of accommodations at Cedar Point. "The marina, along with the new indoor waterpark resort, will give our guests even more overnight options when they visit the park and the area."
Castaway Bay Marina features 262 slips, including 32-foot double, 32-foot single, 40-foot single, 45-foot single and personal watercraft docks. The marina also features amenities such as gated docks, fuel docks, full utilities - including telephone and cable television, dock boxes and more. Land lovers can enjoy a boater's clubhouse, bathhouse with rest room and shower facilities and an in-ground heated pool with sun deck and picnic pavilion. Season dockholders also receive two Cedar Point/Soak City Combo Passes, discounts on tickets to both parks, special savings at the Cedar Point Marina Store, discounts on fuel purchases and discounts at select Cedar Point restaurants.
Cedar Point purchased the marina in August. In November it formally announced its plans to build the Castaway Bay indoor waterpark resort. Construction is currently under way. Castaway Bay is scheduled to open in November of 2004.
