Cedar Point Press Release

SANDUSKY, Ohio, May 12, 2004 – Just when you thought summer would never arrive, the news you have been waiting for is finally here – Soak City, the Cedar Point of waterparks, will open for the 2004 season on Saturday, May 22. Located between the towering rides and roller coasters of Cedar Point and the cool, refreshing water of Lake Erie, Soak City is a water-lover’s paradise.

New this summer at Soak City will be Splash Zone, a multi-story interactive play area with more than 100 different wet and wild water gadgets that spray, squirt and drench guests. The centerpiece of this attraction will be a large bucket that will pour 1,000 gallons of water on guests below every 10 minutes.

Guests who want to take a break from the action will now be able to rent their own private cabana. Located next to the Breakers Bay wave pool, these new cabanas will feature four chaise lounges, a dining table with umbrella and four chairs, four wave pool tubes and a lockable storage drawer. Guests can also order food and beverages, including adult beverages, which are available through a walk-up server or a courtesy phone.

Soak City is an 18-acre water-lover’s dream come true. This huge waterpark features two relaxing inner tube river rides, more than a dozen thrilling water and inner tube slides, a gigantic 500,000-gallon wave pool, two kids areas and much more. In addition to all of the wet and wild fun Soak City has to offer, this watery oasis also features shaded and sunny lounge areas, an adults-only swim-up refreshment center, as well as rest rooms, changing facilities, food and drink locations and a merchandise shop and more.

Soak City will be open daily from Saturday, May 22 through Labor Day, Sept. 6. The waterpark will also be open for two Bonus Weekends: Saturdays and Sundays, Sept. 11, 12, 18 and 19. Operating hours will vary throughout the summer. Admission to Cedar Point is not required. Proper swimwear is required for admission to Soak City. Height requirements are in effect on Soak City attractions.

This summer, the park’s award-winning Live Entertainment Division will debut three new shows. Added to this year’s live entertainment lineup will be “Rockin’ at the Red Garter” in the Red Garter Saloon, “Twistin’ to the 60s” in The Palace Theatre and “Extreme Splash 2004” high-dive show in the Cedar Point Aquatic Stadium.
