Top Thrill Dragster began operating around 5 p.m. yesterday, although the ride had been up for about an hour earlier in the afternoon, Cedar Point spokeswoman Janice Witherow told the Sandusky Register. The coaster had been closed for four days after a cable fray caused minor injuries to four riders.
Witherow told the Register that two of the coaster's three launch cables were replaced on Wednesday. The third cable had just been replaced in June. Cedar Point and Intamin tested the ride Thursday evening and Friday morning.
Witherow also told the Register that Cedar Point will periodically take Top Thrill Dragster out of operation to evaluate the cables. After the coaster was up for one hour Friday afternoon, it was evaluated, she said.
