Sandusky City Manager Mike Will submitted a proposal to city commissioners yesterday that included increasing Sandusky's admission tax to 3.75 percent, the Sandusky Register reported.
The proposal included expanding the admission tax to cover marinas, campgrounds, non-profits and parking. Will said the proposal would raise $1.2 million for capital projects.
Vice Mayor Dan Kaman, who helped repeal the city's parking tax last year, suggested removing parking and non-profits from the proposal.
Cedar Point spokesman Bryan Edwards said park officials will have to review the proposal, which the park knew the city was considering in some form, the Register reported.
"Obviously Cedar Point has been and will continue to be against the parking tax in any form because it does unfairly target Cedar Point," Edwards told the Register.
