SANDUSKY, Ohio, May 19, 2005 - Grab your beach towel, swimsuit and sunglasses and get ready for wet and wild fun because Soak City, the Cedar Point of waterparks, is set to open its gates for the 2005 season on Saturday, May 28.  Conveniently located between the cool waters of Lake Erie and the towering rides and roller coasters of Cedar Point amusement park/resort sits this water-lover’s dream-come-true.

Soak City is a huge 18-acre waterpark that features more than a dozen water slides, a gigantic 500,000-gallon wave pool, two relaxing inner tube river rides, two kids areas, sunny and shaded lounge areas, an adults-only swim-up refreshment center, as well as rest rooms, changing facilities, food and drink locations, a merchandise shop and more.  The highlight of the watery fun at Soak City is Splash Zone - a multi-story interactive play area with more than 100 different water gadgets that spray, squirt and drench guests.  The centerpiece of Splash Zone is a large bucket that pours 1,000 gallons of water on guests below every two minutes.  Talk about getting soaked! 

Soak City also features plenty of options for guests who want to relax as well.  Guests who want to take a break from the action can rent their own private cabana.  Located next to the Breakers Bay wave pool, these exclusive cabanas feature four lounge chairs, a dining table with umbrella, four wave pool tubes and a lockable storage drawer.  Guests can also order food and beverages, including adult beverages, through a walk-up server or a courtesy phone.

Renegade River and Main Stream offer guests an option when it comes to a relaxing inner tube river ride.  Main Stream takes its guests on a restful journey along the Cedar Point Boardwalk while a voyage on Renegade River includes a wave-action section and waterfalls that are sure to thrill.  Bubbles Swim-Up Bar is an adults-only swim-up refreshment center that features bar stools that are actually in the water!

Kids flock to Soak City for two areas they can call their own - Tadpole Town and Choo-Choo Lagoon.  Tadpole Town is located among the towering water slides of Soak City and features two water slides, squirt guns, geysers and other wet and wild fun.  Choo-Choo Lagoon features a giant toy train which kids can climb on and play around.  A lazy river and two family-friendly water slides also await kids around Choo-Choo Lagoon.

Conquering the thrilling water slides and mammoth waves at Soak City is sure to work up an appetite.  Guests can find something for everyone at the Rapid Waves Café.  This quick-service restaurant features everything from chicken fingers and cheeseburgers to a charbroiled chicken sandwich and Alaskan cod sticks.  A wide variety of beverages, from coffee and hot tea to soft drinks and frozen fruit drinks, are also available.

Soak City will be open daily from Saturday, May 28 through Labor Day, Sept. 5.  The waterpark will reopen for two Bonus Weekends: Saturdays and Sundays, Sept. 10, 11, 17 and 18.  Operating hours will vary throughout the summer.  Proper swimwear is required for admission to Soak City.  Height requirements are in effect on Soak City attractions.
