SANDUSKY, Ohio, May 25, 2005 – What do you get when you combine a world-record-breaking collection of 16 roller coasters and more than 2,000 roller coaster enthusiasts?  You get an event like none other!  On Friday, June 3, coaster enthusiasts from around the world will descend on Cedar Point amusement park/resort for the park’s 17th annual CoasterMania! event.

Coaster enthusiasts from clubs such as the American Coaster Enthusiasts, Great Ohio Coaster Club, Western New York Coaster Club, Coaster Zombies, Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain, National Amusement Park Historical Association and more will converge on Cedar Point to ride some of the tallest and fastest scream machines on the planet.  But these are not your ordinary coaster riders.  Coaster enthusiasts enjoy searching for the coaster with the most “airtime” – that feeling of weightlessness, the best “bunny hops” – small hills that are big thrills, and bonding with other enthusiasts who share their love of roller coasters.

“CoasterMania! is an event I look forward to every year,” said Matt Owen, coaster enthusiast and member of the Great Ohio Coaster Club.  “I get to spend the day with my dad, which means a lot to me as we get older.  We get to ride world-class roller coasters, enjoy exclusive ride time, meet new members and renew old friendships. It’s the perfect day!”

Cedar Point will treat CoasterMania! participants to more than 12 hours of exclusive ride time on seven rides including two legendary Cedar Point screamers, Top Thrill Dragster and Millennium Force, before the sun rises.  After dark, participants will have the opportunity to ride the Magnum XL-200, Raptor, Blue Streak and Disaster Transport roller coasters, along with Cedar Point’s newest thrill ride – maXair, a swinging pendulum that offers its own brand of “airtime.”  Throughout the day, CoasterMania! participants will be able to ride and enjoy the park’s rides and attractions.  A special luncheon and coaster photo contest will also be held.
