SANDUSKY - A businessman with more than 20 years of financial experience has been named Cedar Fair's new corporate vice president of finance and chief financial officer.
Peter Crage, 43, will take over the job July 4, succeeding Bruce Jackson, who announced his retirement recently.
"I think this company is a wonderful company, a strong company and a fun company, no pun intended," Crage said Wednesday about Cedar Fair, which trades under the symbol FUN on the New York Stock Exchange.
Crage worked as Cedar Fair's corporate treasurer from April 1999 to May 2002 before leaving to serve as vice president of finance of the parks and resorts division of Delaware North Companies in Buffalo, N.Y. He returned to Cedar Fair last August as Cedar Fair's vice president and corporate controller.
"The company I had worked for for many years had asked me to come back and grow the company," he said about leaving in May 2002 to work in his hometown.
However, while he helped his old company grow, he stayed in contact with Jackson, and decided to return when he was given the opportunity.
"Those are big shoes to fill," Crage said of taking over Jackson's job. "Bruce is a brilliant man and I have enjoyed working for him."
With his promotion, Crage will be in charge of finances across the company, which includes book-keeping at the individual parks and on a corporate level, said Corporate Treasurer Brian Witherow.
Witherow said Crage's selection was a joint effort between the board of directors and company president and CEO Dick Kinzel.
Cedar Fair owns seven amusement parks and five waterparks, including Cedar Point and Soak City in Sandusky.
Crage and his wife, Teresa, and two daughters, Elizabeth and Emily, live in Perkins Township.
