Theme Parks Magazine names Cedar Point as "America's Favorite Amusement Park"

SANDUSKY, Ohio, July 2, 2005 – Cedar Point was recently named as “America’s Favorite Amusement Park” in the first annual Readers’ Choice Awards presented by Theme Parks Magazine, located in Independence, Mo.

Readers were asked to cast votes in a variety of categories including “Favorite Park,” “Most Beautiful Park,” “Favorite Roller Coasters” (steel and wood), “Best Food,” “Friendliest Staff” and others.

Cedar Point roller coasters were named as three of the top four steel roller coasters in the country.  The 310-foot-tall, 93-mph Millennium Force was voted No. 1 in the nation, while the Magnum XL-200 was ranked second and Top Thrill Dragster took the No. 4 spot.  The 161-foot-tall Mean Streak was rated No. 9 in the wooden coaster category. 

Cedar Point also took the top spot for “Best Park For Thrills” and “Park with the Best Bang For Your Buck.”  Cedar Point was ranked second in the “Cleanest Park” and “Friendliest Staff” categories.
