Campbell folds casino plan, for now

Mayor Jane Campbell's effort to gain a statewide vote on casinos this November has died for lack of signatures.

Critics say they aren't surprised - the mayor's proposal would have allowed too many casinos, with too little control.

Under the plan, Erie County, which is home to Cedar Point, would have been allowed to vote on a casino because it draws more than 1 million tourists a year. Cedar Fair, L.P. has indicated the company would be interested in a Sandusky casino if it does become legalized.
