Cedar Point Press Release

SANDUSKY, Ohio, July 21, 2005 – Cedar Point amusement park/resort, home of the most exhilarating collection of rides and roller coasters on Earth, is heating up the summer with world-class entertainment that includes lively music, intricate ice-skating routines and eight-story high dives.

New for 2005 is “Snoopy’s Summer Vacation,” a 30-minute ice skating extravaganza in the Good Time Theatre.  This exciting show features 20 talented skaters and performers from around the world.  Guests can follow Snoopy and the PEANUTS gang as they enjoy various activities during their summer vacation.

“Snoopy’s Summer Vacation,” an all-new ice skating show at Cedar Point amusement park/resort, features 20 talented skaters, dazzling costumes and America’s favorite beagle, Snoopy. Presented in the Good Time Theatre, “Snoopy’s Summer Vacation” will be performed daily (excluding Wednesdays) through Monday, Sept. 5.

“Our guests will love everything about this show from the costumes and lighting to the talented skaters.  The show is about having fun during the summer, and that’s exactly what our guests are here to do,” said Marje Rody, vice president of live entertainment.  “On a hot summer day, it’s the perfect way to take a break from the midway and come into the cool, comfortable atmosphere of the Good Time Theatre.”

“Snoopy’s Summer Vacation” takes the PEANUTS gang through a fun-filled journey replete with upbeat music and show-stopping skating elements.  The show takes them to many popular summer destinations including the beach for some fun in the sun; a trip to Camp Snoopy for a marshmallow roast under the stars; a sporting event featuring Snoopy’s boxing talents; a rock concert with Snoopy and Schroeder in a dueling piano duet, and a spectacular 4th of July celebration featuring the entire skating ensemble.

“The technical side of this show is overwhelming,” explained Rody.  “We are constantly monitoring the temperature of the ice and making sure our skaters have the best ice possible.”  Overall, there are 400 lighting instruments and a state-of-the-art computer that controls the show’s audio.  Six deck hands and 12 costume, lighting and sound technicians keep the show and its props/sets moving properly.

“Snoopy’s Summer Vacation” runs now through Monday, Sept. 5.  (There are no shows on Wednesdays.)

Guests looking for a journey back in time can experience “Twistin’ to the 60’s,” located in the Palace Theatre.  This “Big E” award-winning show takes guests back to the time of sock-hops, slumber parties, beehive hairdos and Beach Blanket Bingo.  The show features a live band and an ensemble of singers that revive songs like, “Be True To Your School,” “The Twist,” and “Surfin’ Safari.”

Other shows at Cedar Point include, “Livin’ In America,” a musical journey from Motown to Disco at the Centennial Theatre, “Rockin’ The Garter – Live!,” a high-energy rock ‘n’ roll party at the Red Garter Saloon, and “Extreme Splash 2005,” a high-diving fun-filled show featuring the World Professional Extreme Team.

Younger guests will enjoy “Charlie Brown’s Funtime Frolics” and “Snoopy’s Sing-A-Long” at the Camp Snoopy Theatre located in Camp Snoopy.  Both shows feature the PEANUTS gang, plenty of music and the chance for younger guests to be the stars of the show!

Guests can end their day at Cedar Point with “Snoopy’s Summer Spectacular,” a nighttime extravaganza of light and sound with lasers, pyrotechnics and music, located between the Iron Dragon and WildCat roller coasters.
