Cedar Point ends line reservation system

From staff reports

SANDUSKY - Cedar Point isn't allowing guests to cut anymore.

The park discontinued its free line reservation system, FreeWay, when the park closed for the day on Saturday.

The system allows people to get their hand stamped and ride a coaster during a designated hour, such as 1-2 p.m., without waiting in line.

FreeWay was used on the Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster, among other roller coasters.

However, if lines were short, stamps weren't given.

"It was a free service to our guests, but we have decided to discontinue it this year and will review it (for next year)," said park spokesman Bryan Edwards.

"We are past the heavy point of our season -- our busiest days are late July and early August," Edwards said about discontinuing the program.

FreeWay was started in 2002, and this was the first year that Cedar Point stopped the program during the season.

The park didn't keep track of how many people used FreeWay, Edwards said.
