Thursday, 18 August 2005

Huron native Elaine Fitzhum received a $2,000 scholarship from the Robert L. Munger Scholarship Fund at Cedar Point.

Fitzhum, a nursing major at Lorain County Community College, is a server in Food Services Division. She has been working at Cedar Point for 18 years.

Seven Cedar Point employees received scholarships totaling $14,000.

The Robert L. Munger Scholarship is based on academic and personal achievement, along with community contributions and involvement.

Each candidate submitted a formal application and was interviewed by an independent scholarship awards committee comprised of community leaders.

Scholarships were awarded to employees who worked this summer and at least 400 hours last summer at the amusement park.

Munger died in 1987. He was executive chairman of the board and a member of Cedar Point's board of directors for more than 25 years.
