SANDUSKY - Cedar Point and the area's rising gas prices will make national news tonight.

The Sandusky amusement park is one of 10 stops on the CBS News' two-week series, Cross-Country Price Patrol.

Park spokesman Robin Innes said CBS will broadcast live from somewhere in the park between 6:30-7 p.m.

The segment will focus on the rising gas prices and how it is affecting summer vacation plans.

The park's new discount program, partially inspired by the rising gas prices, will also be discussed, Innes said.

The CBS trip across America began Monday at a Mobil station in midtown Manhattan with the first stop in Williamsport, Pa, home of the Little League World Series, according to the CBS Web site.

Reporter Jim Axelrod is driving from the East Coast to the West to see how gas prices are affecting people.

Gas prices in the Sandusky area on Monday night were around $2.69 per gallon. The national average is $2.61 a gallon, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.

Last week, Cedar Point announced some of its largest discounts in recent history.

In addition to a local resident discount, seniors citizens, 62 and older, can get into the park for $9.95, compared to the $44.95 general admission Funday price.

Juniors, 3 and older, under 48 inches tall, also pay $9.95 through October, compared to the $24.95 junior price.

Innes said CBS crew were at the park on Monday scouting locations for the live remote.
