LEMTA Press Release

Whether in the market for a new boat or not, it’s always exciting to see the latest power and sailboats for the first time. Many never-before-seen 2006 models will be part of the 700 boat international fleet at the 33rd annual North American Sail & Power Boat Show, September 14-18 at Cedar Point Marina in Sandusky, Ohio.

Sole winner in the Fishing Boats category for innovative achievement at the 2005 NMMA Innovation Awards in Miami, the Everglades 290 Pilot will debut at the North American Sail & Power Boat Show. A high-end offshore family fishing boat packed with standard features that are either unique to the boat or available only as options by other manufacturers, she’ll be shown by Beaver Park Marina of Lorain, OH.

The new Luhrs 28 offers a full-featured hardtop instead of an upper station, providing extra protection from the elements. All the features anglers need are standard, including livewell and wash downs. Displayed at the show by Beaver Park Marina, the 28’s sports an athletic hull design that allows for shallow draft fishing while still slicing through offshore waters with ease.

Freeman Eckley of Vermilion, OH will be showing a number of new 2006 model power and sailboats. Honored with the prestigious “Queen of the Sail Fleet” designation at this year’s show, the all-new Beneteau 473 combines extraordinary interior comfort, volume and light with blue water strength. Freeman Eckley will also be premiering two other new Beneteau sailboats at Cedar Point, the 343 and the 350.

On the power side, Freeman Eckley will launch the Beneteau Swift Trawler 42 at the North American Sail & Power Boat Show. The 42 launches a new niche of passage makers with the ability to travel at a rapid pace in sublime comfort while carrying a crew in seas that many typical cruisers would find too challenging.

The new Neptunus 55 Cabrio is an express cruiser that might be one of the best looking boats in its class. Sporting a large retractable hardtop roof that allows 360-degree visibility from the helm, the 55 also offers a full galley and upper and lower salons with plenty of space to relax and entertain. Neptunus Yachts of St. Catharines, Ontario will unveil the 55 at the Boat Show.

Designed to achieve maximum performance from today’s 4-stroke outboards, the new Hydra-Sports 2500 VX is a fishing machine. In the cockpit, anglers will enjoy plenty of room for casting, selecting lures from the built-in tackle storage drawers or preparing bait in the washdown sink. Burroughs Marine of Clyde, OH will have the VX, as well as the new Hydra-Sports 212 CC, in Sandusky.

Stingray’s newest and biggest cuddy cabin to date – the Stingray 250 CR - will make her debut at the boat show from Burroughs Marine. The impressive cabin features built-in storage cabinets, a pump-out head and a spacious v-berth for overnight occasions. A family of four will find that they can easily overnight with room to spare for the family dog. Additionally, Burroughs Marine will have the new Stingray 220 CS at the boat show.

Clemons Boats of Sandusky, OH will be showing a new Trophy 1952 Walkaround at Cedar Point. The 1952 is an easily towed fishing craft with v-berth overnight accommodations. Anglers will love the self-draining fishbox, transom walk-through, storage lockers, rod holders and 13-gallon livewell. Standard power is a 135-hp 3.0-liter MerCruiser.

An ideal family fishing boat, the new Boston Whaler 235 Conquest will be displayed at the show courtesy of Clemons Boats. With a bow area that’s great for casting, the aft cockpit has a livewell, under-gunwale rod storage, and four rod holders on the transom and gunwales.

The latest and largest of Rinker’s line of express cruisers ranging from 25 feet on up, the new Rinker Fiesta Vee 410 will be on display at Cedar Point courtesy of Happy Days Boating of Port Clinton, OH. With accommodations for six and enough room to entertain the whole family, the 410 is perfect for anyone looking for a comfortable cruiser with all the luxuries of home.

Harbor North of Huron, OH will have a number of new Hunter sailboats debuting in Sandusky, including the Hunter 41 DS. Sporting a new profile and roomier interior created by raising the deck to allow a taller and larger salon, the 41's deck salon version has more panoramic views and greater visibility from the larger, elevated windows.

Two new models from Albin Marine will premiere in Sandusky, including the Albin 31 Tournament Express. Geared toward the avid angler as well as the cruising enthusiast, Harbor North will have numerous models from Albin at the show.

The Great Lakes’ biggest in-water boat show also features the ever-popular Brokerage Pier and the latest products from hundreds of marine accessory and equipment exhibitors. There’s entertainment, too. Harbor North will be offering free Discover Sailing sailboat rides. And a professional angler will be conducting seminars from atop the Hawg Tank, a 10’, 4,000 gallon aquarium stocked with bass (aka hawgs).
