Top Thrill Dragster will not be in operation this weekend, according to Cedar Point spokesman Bryan Edwards.
The ride, which had been having a very good summer, has been down since September 2.
Sandusky Register article from October 1 begins below:
Top Thrill Dragster continues to be down for HalloWeekends.
Park spokesman Bryan Edwards said Friday work is still being done to the motor, and the park doesn't know when it will reopen.
No additional information was available on the problem with the Dragster, although Edwards said the roller coaster will be operating in the 2006 season.
Cedar Point announced after Labor Day that Top Thrill Dragster would be closed indefinitely.
The roller coaster went down Sept. 2 because of "mechanical problems," but park officials declined to elaborate.
Guests have been informed about the closure through postings on the park's Web site and signs at the park's entrance.
Since debuting in May 2003, the Top Thrill Dragster has operated sporadically. However, this season, it has only been down a few times.
Cedar Point experienced trouble with the ride's prototype hydraulic oil system and launching cables in 2003-04, and four riders were injured on the ride in July 2004 when a cable frayed.
The park is open for the weekends through Oct. 30.
