Judge dismisses some claims in C.P. suit

Wednesday, 05 October 2005

A judge has dismissed some of the claims a former teenage Cedar Point employee brought against the company in a 2003 lawsuit, including sexual harassment and negligent supervision.

In the suit, a girl, who was 15 when she began working as a "sweeper" at Cedar Point in the summer of 2000, claimed that while she and a boy who was 14 at the time were left alone in a room to watch training videos, the boy exposed himself to her and made advances on her.

Judge Tygh M. Tone, ruling on Cedar Point's motion for summary judgment, ruled that while there was no evidence that Cedar Point knew of the boy's likelihood of misconduct, other issues in the case, such as failure to provide a safe workplace and whether the park retaliated against the girl for raising the complaint, still stood.

Attorneys for the plaintiff and Cedar Point could not be reached for comment Tuesday night.
