Cedar Point Press Release

SANDUSKY, Ohio, Dec. 22, 2005 – Cedar Point amusement park/resort will donate nearly $13,000 collected through its Loose Change Fund to the Firelands Chapter of the American Red Cross Local Disaster Relief Fund and the Victory Temple Soup Kitchen in Sandusky. During the past two seasons, Cedar Point employees collected the money found underneath the rides, along the midway and in the park’s water fountain, all of which is then donated to local organizations.

The park will donate almost $7,500 from the 2004 Loose Change Fund and money collected this summer at the park to the Firelands Chapter of the American Red Cross Local Disaster Relief Fund. More than $5,300 from the 2005 Loose Change Fund will go to the Victory Temple Soup Kitchen.

“These are two very worthwhile organizations. Their mission is to help people in need,” stated John Hildebrandt, general manager of Cedar Point. “Our employees take great satisfaction in knowing the money they collect and turn in goes to help people who really need it.”

Cedar Point assists other organizations throughout the year, such as the Firelands Chapter of the American Red Cross, though local blood drives and fund-raisers, as well as the United Way of Erie County and the Salvation Army.

Cedar Point will also make a donation to the Northwest Ohio Aluminum Cans for Burned Children Fund of the Burn Care and Reconstructive Center at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo. Aluminum cans were collected from recycling bins placed in employee break areas. The value of those recycled cans totaled more than $3,500 in 2004 and 2005.

Since 1988, Cedar Point has donated more than $186,000 from the Loose Change Fund to local organizations.
