Cedar Point Press Release
SANDUSKY, Ohio, Jan. 18, 2006 – Castaway Bay, Cedar Point's year-round Caribbean-themed indoor waterpark resort, is starting the New Year with newly renovated rooms and money-saving offers on winter getaways.
Castaway Bay recently completed more than $2 million in renovations to all guest rooms and hallways. The refurbished rooms feature new furniture, updated bathrooms and a fresh tropical décor. Rooms also include a private deck or balcony, remote control television, microwave, mini-refrigerator and coffee maker. The resort's birthday rooms and commons areas were also updated.
Special winter room rates will help guests save money on their escape to an island paradise. A Starfish inland room is available for $89 plus tax on weekdays and $129 plus tax on weekends. Starfish rooms include two double beds and four waterpark passes. This "Say No To Snow" special offer is valid until Feb. 16. Also, the "Tropical Savings" special is good for $50 off existing rack room rates (plus tax). Offer is valid Sunday through Thursday until April 30. Rates include waterpark passes.
In addition to the newly remodeled rooms, guests can take advantage of one-day visits to Castaway Bay indoor waterpark. Day passes are now available for $18 per person (available Monday through Thursday only). Island Evenings waterpark passes are also available from 4-10 p.m. for $8.95 per person (available Sunday through Thursday only). Children age 2 and under are free.
"We're excited about the new rooms and new discounts now available for our guests," said Brian Peiffer, general manager of Castaway Bay. "The indoor waterpark resort is a great place for families to get away during the cold winter months. There is plenty to do for everyone in the family."
Located across the bay from Cedar Point, the 230,000-square-foot complex is home to 237 guest rooms, the 38,000-square-foot indoor waterpark, a full-service spa, T.G.I. Friday's restaurant, Gil's Lookout Lounge overlooking the harbor, three gift shops, a deli and a buffet-style sit-down family restaurant.
The indoor waterpark offers a diverse collection of super-soaking water devices such as a 100,000-gallon wave pool, 10 exhilarating water slides, a children's play pool complete with tipping buckets, spraying gadgets and sea creature play structures, Rendezvous Run, a 520-foot-long indoor water roller coaster, the towering Lookout Lagoon Family Funhouse and two 50-person whirlpool spas – one indoor and one outdoor.
Castaway Bay is an indoor waterpark and much more. Children will have fun at Camp Castaway, a popular craft and activity center for children. Camp Castaway features games, arts and crafts, pictures to color and books to read. Other amenities at Castaway Bay include an exercise room, Crabbie's Quarterdeck Arcade, a 6,000-square-foot arcade that houses the latest in video games, and a special birthday party room.
