CP Web site overhauled

SANDUSKY - Cedar Point guests no longer have to wait until they are at the park to determine what to ride and eat.

Cedar Point launched its newly overhauled Web site this week, which includes information on prices and packages for the 2006 season. The Web site is still www.cedarpoint.com.

"I would say use of the Web site has gone up considerably over the years -- easily millions of people view it," said park spokesman Bryan Edwards.

The overhaul allows for those with minimal technology to view the online videos on the Web site, in addition to read through many of the park's restaurant menus, he said.

Having the menus online especially helps guests on a budget or with special dietary needs, Edwards said.

The ride pages on the revamped Web site are also more detailed with facts about the rides, including who built the ride and the history of it at the park, he said. Also, the site is easier to navigate with more photos throughout.

"It's easier to get to the information you are looking for," Edwards said. "We purchased new Web cams for crisper and cleaner pictures."

While the overhaul is being introduced on a "rolling start," soon all the new features will be up and operating, he said. A test of the Web site was put up Tuesday.

Deb Patton, manager of marketing systems at Cedar Point, and WDD Online, Wadsworth, Ohio, are credited with the redesign.

Edwards said redesigning the Web site doesn't happen every year, but it is constantly updated.
