The Sandusky city commission approved Cedar Fair L.P.'s 10-year, 100 percent tax abatement on Monday, the Sandusky Register reported.

Cedar Fair, L.P., officials gave the city of Sandusky a look at its proposed indoor water park during the meeting as several park officials were on hand to present preliminary details.

"Close your eyes and imagine paradise," said Robert Decker, Corporate Vice President of Planning & Design of Cedar Fair, L.P.

The project will include renovating the Radisson, but no additional rooms will be added. TGI Friday's will remain open. Additional details about the water park will be released at a later date.

Construction on the unnamed water park is set to start in September and will be completed by the end of 2004.

The abatement must be approved by Erie County Commission and the state of Ohio before it becomes official.
