SANDUSKY — When Cedar Point opens for its 137th season at 10 a.m. today the new $6 million Skyhawk ride and the lower admission and food prices will be among the most noticed.

However, subtler changes, such as new food options, freshly painted roller coasters and new pop machines throughout the park add to the overall experience as well.

Located just inside the park gates on the left side, Hofbrau is now Hurricane Hannah's, serving chicken wraps, burgers, paninis and pizza; Transport Refreshments is serving gluten-free items; and Macaroni's has a build-your-own sandwich bar.

"The gluten-free meals are another example of the park trying to cater to our guests and their needs," said park spokesman Bryan Edwards.

Dominic's in Hotel Breakers is featuring a new family-style menu that features entrees in small servings, two to four, and large servings, four to six.

Midway milk carts featuring vanilla, chocolate and strawberry from Toft's are also among new options.

"It's just something different to add to the whole variety to pick from," Edwards said.

In games and merchandise, Hattitudes is now Attitudes, and Intermissions is now Island Accents featuring the Tommy Bahama clothing line.

A new Basketball 3-point Challenge Game is located near the Demon Drop in the front of the park. There's also new lockers at the Skyhawk ride.

New live entertainment includes the debut of a new nighttime show after 10 seasons of laser lights.

"Hot Summer Lights: Fire Up The Night" will take place at 10 p.m. June 2 through Aug. 20, on the Iron Dragon midway.

The centerpiece of "Hot Summer Lights" is a special effect called "FireWater." The FireWater system features torch-like flames reaching heights of 25 feet.

Two other new shows are "Divine Divas" in the Palace Theatre and "Rock The House" in the Red Garter Saloon.

Here's what else is new in 2006: • Pet Chek went from $10 to $15 per animal, per day; renovations to the Pet Chek restroom as well.

• New concrete and lighting in Frontiertown

• New supervisor uniforms; full-time name tags; and redesigned seasonal name tags

• New visitor boat docks

• New marina parking lot

• New storage bins at major rides for loose articles

• Resurfacing to the bus parking lot
