SANDUSKY, Ohio, 2006 – Get ready for summer fun. Soak City, the Cedar Point of waterparks, will open its gates for the 2006 season on Saturday, May 27. Conveniently located adjacent to Cedar Point amusement park, Soak City is a gigantic 18-acre waterpark that offers something for every type of water-lover.

Everyone is sure to get wet at Splash Zone – a multi-story interactive play area that features more than 100 different water gadgets that spray, squirt and drench guests. The centerpiece of Splash Zone is a huge bucket that dumps 1,000 gallons of water every three minutes. Next door, Breakers Bay is a half-million-gallon wave pool where guests can either body surf or ?oat on the gigantic waves in inner tubes.

Young children have two areas to call their own, Tadpole Town and Choo-Choo Lagoon, which feature plenty of wet and wild fun that will keep kids happy and busy for hours. For a break from the action, guests can float around the Renegade River or Main Stream inner tube rivers.

For added excitement, guests can challenge Zoom Flume, a 76-foot-tall raft slide that carries guests along a twisting course with high-banked curves. There is also an assortment of inner tube slides, body slides and two 60-foot speed slides that all end with a splash!

Soak City also has a wide variety of sunny and shaded lounge areas for those who want to work on their suntan or ?nd a quiet spot to read a book or catch a nap. Soak City has lockers, showers, rest rooms and changing facilities, a wide variety of food locations, a merchandise shop with everything from swimsuits to suntan lotion and private cabanas that guests can rent for the day.

Soak City will be open daily from Saturday, May 27 through Labor Day, Sept. 4. Operating hours will vary throughout the summer. Proper swimwear is required for admission to Soak City. Admission to Cedar Point is not required.

For those who crave even more watery fun, North Coast Parasail and Jet Ski on the Cedar Point Beach is a dream come true! Water-enthusiasts can go parasailing over the lake or ride the waves on jet skis. Each attraction requires a separate fee and admission to Cedar Point or Soak City is not required. For more information, please call North Coast Parasail and Jet Ski at 419.627.2279.

While Soak City will offer a variety of options to cool down, Cedar Point’s award-winning live entertainment is set to heat things up. Three shows will debut in the upcoming weeks, including the new “Divine Divas” in the Palace Theatre and “Hot Summer Lights: Fire Up The Night!” on the Iron Dragon midway.

Ladies rule in “Divine Divas” at the Palace Theatre in Frontiertown. Opening on Saturday, May 27, “Divine Divas” features six female performers who light up the stage performing hot hits, cool jazz and a tribute to the king himself, Elvis!

Debuting on Friday night, June 2, “Hot Summer Lights: Fire Up the Night!” is the perfect way to end your day at Cedar Point. This new high-energy show will feature music, pyrotechnics, videos and a new special effect called FireWater. The FireWater system features torch-like flames that can be choreographed to music and reach heights of 25 feet into the air. Cedar Point is the first amusement park in the world to use this technology. “Hot Summer Lights” will take place nightly at 10 p.m., weather permitting, on the Iron Dragon midway. It is produced by Interlaced Productions of Madison, Ga.

Back by popular demand this summer will be another guest favorite, “Livin’ In America.” Beginning Saturday, June 10, guests can take a musical journey from Motown to disco and rock during this 25-minute tribute to American music presented in the Centennial Theatre, located on the park’s main midway.
