COASTERS, COASTERS AND MORE COASTERS! COASTERMANIA! RETURNS TO CEDAR POINT; THE EUROPEAN COASTER CLUB VISITS

SANDUSKY, Ohio, 2006 – It’s a coaster-enthusiast’s dream come true! More than 1,500 coaster lovers from around the world will converge on Cedar Point amusement park/resort for the park’s 18th annual CoasterMania! event on Friday, June 2. In addition, Cedar Point will play host to 75 members of the European Coaster Club on Monday and Tuesday, June 5-6.

CoasterMania! participants will enjoy over 12 hours of exclusive ride time on some of the most exhilarating coasters in the world. The event begins with the ultimate wake-up call: early-morning ride time on the 120-mph, 420-foot-tall Top Thrill Dragster, Millennium Force, and Cedar Point’s newest thrill ride, Skyhawk. After dark, participants will close their day with the Magnum XL-200, Raptor, Gemini and Cedar Point’s oldest operating coaster, Blue Streak. Members of coaster clubs such as the American Coaster Enthusiasts, Great Ohio Coaster Club, Coaster Zombies, the Western New York Coaster Club and more will also enjoy a special luncheon and coaster photo contest.

Cedar Point will also welcome members of the European Coaster Club to the United States with a two-day event the following week. Coaster enthusiasts from Denmark, England, Germany, Holland Norway, Scotland, Sweden and Wales will be treated to exclusive ride time on Top Thrill Dragster on Monday evening, June 5 and Millennium Force on Tuesday morning, June 6. Members will wrap-up their visit with Tuesday evening ride time on the coaster that amazed the amusement industry in 1989 with its height of 205 feet and speed of 72 mph, the Magnum XL-200.

The European Coaster Club was founded in 1996 and has more than 1,500 members around the world. Members enjoy park benefits such as exclusive ride time, behind the scenes tours and trips to several theme parks throughout the summer.
