Cedar Point Press Release

SANDUSKY, Ohio, 2006 – On the Fourth of July, the skyline over Cedar Point amusement park/resort will be filled with color as the popular vacation destination celebrates America with a patriotic fireworks display, scheduled for 10 p.m. on Tuesday evening.

The program will be presented by Zambelli Internationale, Inc., New Castle, Pa., one of the oldest and largest firms in fireworks displays in America. Following the fireworks presentation will be “Hot Summer Lights: Fire Up the Night,” the new nighttime show featuring pyrotechnics, video, light, sound and “FireWater” – torch-like flames that are choreographed to the music and reach heights of 25 feet into the air. “Hot Summer Lights” will be shown at 11 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4 and will be shown nightly at 10 p.m. (weather permitting) through Aug. 20. (In case of inclement weather, the July 4th fireworks display will be postponed until Wednesday, July 5 at 10 p.m.)

On July 4, Cedar Point will be open from 10 a.m. to midnight. Gates will open at 9:30 a.m.

From Saturday through Tuesday, July 1-4, the world’s largest touring grill, the Johnsonville Big Taste Grill, will be at Cedar Point cooking up Johnsonville bratwursts for hungry park guests.

The Johnsonville Big Taste Grill is no ordinary backyard barbecue. Weighing more than 53,000 lbs. and extending to a length of 65 feet, this giant grill is so big it requires its own semi-truck to haul it from one location to another! The grill has the capacity to cook more than 750 brats at a time – approximately 2,500 per hour – and can accommodate more than 12 “grillmasters.” The Big Taste Grill will be located near the Good Time Theatre. Special meal deals will be available, along with Pepsi products and cold beer.

In addition to the light shows, the live entertainment season is now in full swing at Cedar Point! Guests looking for a break from the action-packed midways of Cedar Point can check out any one of the park’s award-winning live shows.

Returning for its second season, guests can join America’s favorite beagle, Snoopy, in the Good Time Theatre for the “Snoopy’s Summer Vacation” ice-skating show. Snoopy and the PEANUTS gang celebrate all of the things that make summer great, including visiting the beach, camping, the Fourth of July and more.

At the Palace Theatre in Frontiertown, ladies rule in “Divine Divas,” while the thumping sounds of rock ‘n’ roll can be heard in the Red Garter Saloon during “Rock the House!”

Back by popular demand are two guest favorites: “Extreme Splash 2006!” and “Livin’ In America.” Shown in the Aquatic Stadium, “Extreme Splash 2006” features the World Professional Extreme Team as they treat guests to a diving show that includes amazing stunts, comedy sketches and a finale that you have to see to believe! “Livin’ In America” in the Centennial Theatre takes guests on a musical journey across America with hot hits from Motown, disco and rock.

In the Camp Snoopy Theatre, kids laugh with delight with Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus and the rest of the PEANUTS gang during “Charlie Brown’s Funtime Frolics” and “Snoopy’s Sing-A-Long.”

For guests who can’t get enough of the thrilling rides and roller coasters that Cedar Point has to offer, the park will stay open an hour longer on Friday nights. Beginning Friday, July 7, Cedar Point will remain open until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights through Saturday, Aug. 19. Sunday through Thursday, the park will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. (Gates open at 9:30 a.m.)
