Cedar Point takes top honors in amusement park poll

SANDUSKY, Ohio, 2006 – Cedar Point amusement park/resort was recently named “America’s Favorite Amusement Park” by the readers of Theme Parks Magazine. This is the second year in a row that Cedar Point has been voted the No. 1 amusement park in America in the magazine’s Readers’ Choice Awards.

Cedar Point also placed three coasters in the Top 4 of the “Top Steel Roller Coasters” category. The Millennium Force giga-coaster was rated No. 1 for the second straight year, while the Top Thrill Dragster came in No. 2 and perennial favorite, Magnum XL-200, came in at No. 4. The park’s Mean Streak roller coaster made the Top 10 in the wooden roller coasters poll.

The popular family vacation destination also took home top honors in the “Favorite Park for Thrills” and “Best Value” for the second year in a row. Cedar Point’s HalloWeekends won a Readers’ Choice Award for “Best Seasonal Event.”

“We are extremely pleased with these results,” said John Hildebrandt, vice president and general manager of Cedar Point. “The staff at Cedar Point strives to make each guest’s experience the best it can be and it shows in this poll. Not only does Cedar Point have some of the best coasters on the planet, but the park is a great value for families.”

This year, Cedar Point lowered its admission prices for the first time in their history. The price of a regular one-day admission ticket (valid for guests ages 3-61 who are 48 inches and taller) is only $39.95, a reduction of $5 off a regular one-day admission ticket in 2005

A Junior ticket (valid for guests ages 3-61 who are under 48 inches tall) is only $9.95! A Senior ticket (valid for guests ages 62 and older), is also only $9.95. Children age 2 and under are free.

Also, this season guests can purchase a stick of cotton candy for only 25 cents. Cedar Point was also rated highly in the following categories: “Cleanest Park”; “Best Food”; “Friendliest Staff”; “Best Live Entertainment”; and “Favorite New Ride for 2005” for maXair.
