Cedar Point Press Release

SANDUSKY, Ohio, 2006 – A trip to Cedar Point amusement park/resort includes many things such as family fun, thrills and a scenic environment unlike any other. But what trip would be complete without the savory sensations of amusement park food? This year, Cedar Point is offering several new food selections that are sure to tempt the palette.

New in 2006, Hurricane Hannah’s is making a splash on the Main Midway! This tropical-themed eatery, located near the Main Entrance, is serving up delicious calypso chicken wraps, Cuban panini sandwiches and the new island steak burger. Hurricane Hannah’s is also offering fresh-baked pizza, including the Pirate’s Treasure pizza with cheese, ham and pineapple toppings.

Just down the midway, sports lovers can grab a bite to eat while catching their favorite game on live TV at the Game Day Grille, located near the Blue Streak roller coaster. Several new offerings like chicken Bites-of-Fire, shrimp jammers, Philly steak subs, marinated chicken breast sandwiches and a new dessert selection, including caramel apple pies and the candy bar explosion cake are all on the menu.

Guests can also enjoy a Lake Erie specialty right at Cedar Point. Fresh Lake Erie perch sandwiches are featured at Mr. Potato, located on the Wicked Twister Midway, and at the Burger Patio, near the Cedar Downs Racing Derby.

“Offering new food selections to our guests is a great way to expand family dining choices,” said Mike Mason, vice president of food services at Cedar Point. “Not everyone can always agree on what to eat. Variety is very important to our guests.”

Other new food items include sirloin steak burgers at Coaster’s Drive-In, located at the end of the Main Midway. Chicken Bites-of-Fire and char-grilled barbeque chicken sandwiches are also available at Los Gatos in Frontiertown.

Midway Meal Baskets, featuring a choice of a hamburger, cheeseburger, char-broiled chicken filet, chicken fingers or a breaded chicken sandwich, are each served with choice of french fries, fruit cup or cole slaw at numerous locations throughout the park.

At the historic Hotel Breakers, families can sit down to a great Italian meal at Dominic’s restaurant. New entrees served family-style, such as spaghetti, chicken alfredo, a rotini bake, smoked cheese ravioli and pasta with pesto sauce, are great for parties ranging from two to six guests. Appetizers such as calamari and bruchetta are also available.

The Breakwater Café, adjacent to the Sandcastle Suites hotel, is cooking up new steak dinners. Guests have their choice of New York Strip, Filet Mignon, Sirloin Steak, Prime Rib and a full-pound Porterhouse. The Breakwater also serves new buffalo chicken wings, fresh Lake Erie perch, steak burgers, chicken and Pizza Hut pizzas.

Guests looking for the perfect dessert to complement their meals will find several new options at Cedar Point in 2006. At the Red Garter Saloon, located on the Frontier Trail, a fresh-baked brownie with whipped cream will tantalize the taste buds. At several locations in the park, guests can enjoy fresh fruit with creamy custard, fried apple stix with caramel sauce, cinnamon sugar sticks and more.

In addition, the new Shake & Malt Room, located behind the Toft’s Ice Cream Parlor, features rich, creamy hand-dipped milk shakes and malts.

And don’t forget – sticks of sugary, fluffy, sweet cotton candy are available for only 25 cents!
