SANDUSKY -

Reporter will bring father for vacation time on the Point Wednesday

If it seems you've been seeing Cedar Point in the news everywhere, just wait until this Friday's CBS Evening News with Bob Schieffer.

A CBS Evening News reporter will visit Cedar Point with his father Wednesday as part of a chance for news viewers to pick what they watch on their evening newscast.

Steve Hartman, a reporter with the CBS Evening News with Bob Schieffer, and his segment "Assignment America" will come to the Point this week and take his summer vacation with his father.

Viewers voted online on CBS News' Web site and chose among three options: Cedar Point, the National Shuffleboard Tournament in Lakeside and a Detroit Tigers baseball game.

The end of Monday's broadcast featured aerial shots of the park. The broadcast will air Friday.

Cedar Point officials were excited about the chance to show their park to even more possible customers across the country.

"We'll certainly do our best to show the sites," said Cedar point spokesperson Robin Innes. "Ideally we want them to have a great time at the park and show what we have to offer.

"CBS News is very prestigious. This is quite a privilege," he said.

Hartman and his father will tour the park and put their coaster-endurance skills to the test Wednesday morning.

CBS did not report voting results on its Web site, and spokespeople from the network were unavailable Monday evening. Viewers can vote online after hearing their choices for the "Assignment" stories each Friday after the weekly segment airs.

Whichever story gets the most votes by the next Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. is filmed that week and aired the following Friday.
