20 year old PA fraternity student hired as a ride pride allegedly raped a 14 year old games employee at one of their off point apartments. The accused individual is now held in jail under a 25k bond and has plead not guilty.

Something about this doesn't add up. If the rapist was a volunteer worker, I don't think they would be living in housing, but I may be wrong about that. And what would a 14 year old be doing in the housing? I thought you had to be 18 to live in their housing. A 14 year old has no reason to go in there. But horrible story regardless.

The ride prides are able to apply for temporary housing I would believe. During my year they housed the male prides in Cedars, which they still may do. However, they may use the off point housing as well, or this may be referring to Cedars, it isn't that specific.

Also, they said the victim went to housing with a group, this doesn't mean that she lived there, especially considering at the bottom of the story the victim contacts her mother.

I'm trying to find picture ID and anything from the clerk to see if it has come through yet, but he's not showing up in Erie County Jail, that's as far as I've gotten.

I thought they closed Cedars after Labor Day and every after that point has to go to Commons.

Nope, they used it for ride prides while I was there, things could have changed, but I can't be perfectly certain for policies as of now. Regardless, the bigger issue is this guy has been held in jail, under bond, and had an arraignment already, so they have criminal charges on him at the moment.

I found his mugshot on an unofficial arrest aggregate, nothing else yet, ganna keep looking

All ride prides (male and female) live in Cedars for the weekend they're there.

My thing is, why wasn't the person working the front desk scanning IDs as people came through? They would have easily learned this girl was underage and definitely not allowed into housing. The whole situation is disgusting to me.

All the more reason to take out the Cedars...

I would be very careful to presume guilt here until all facts are in. A minor making up a story so as to not get in trouble for not obeying parents is certainly a possibility.

That said, I've never been a fan of allowing 14 year olds to work here or anywhere else for that matter. I think it is just too young. IF you are going to allow 14 year olds to work then there must be unquestionable supervision of them.

CP will certainly have to look at its practices to see what broke down here.

I completely agree on you with the 14 year olds working. If they do get a job, it should be as an umpire for little league baseball or something.

ok, I give up. Someone tell us (me) what a ride pride is.

Chris

Ride Prides are workers who come in under a charity or group and the money earned goes to the organization or group they represent.

The hell is a ride pride?

Like the building did it?

Ride Prides are fundraisers for their organizations just as StealthPirate07 has said. They're easy to spot out. Next time you're at the park during Halloweekends, they are the workers who are wearing khaki pants and have the old clip name tags with the red border that the employees used to have in seasons prior to 2011.

In rides, they are there on Saturdays and Sunday's. As of the 2013 season, they aren't allowed to work any platform positions. So you'll only find them working entrance, Fast Lane, or crowd control. I hope that gives some people a better understanding of who they are.

Since when are 14 year old CHILDREN(young adults) allowed employment(or volunteer opportunity) @ a corporate company??? INSANE if Cedar Fair practices this policy. My same statement stands for any 'volunteer' activity they may allow for young adults.

People don't rape people, buildings rape people. No more buildings, no more rape.

Ohio Labor laws allow 14 & 15 years olds to work 4 hours a day at 7.25/hr.

That is crazy, but so be it. But is Cedar Fair/ Cp required to interview/hire the younger 'potential' employees if they do apply? My guess is NO. The legal risk taking that chance is risky IMO. Ether way, my mind races this MIGHT of happened...nothings been proven legally, as of my response.
