They did for Mantis

He was probably referring to Geauga Lake.

The announcement of the announcement from 2014:

The management team has given me clearance to tell you there will be a major announcement on 9/2 at high noon.

There are only two rides they closed in the last 10 years that they closed without offering last rides, Wildcat and STR. While the abrupt closing of Wildcat took many of us by surprise, I'm not quite sure the same was the case with STR save for Shawn ;-) We were told about WWL, DT, SS, and DD at least a few weeks in advance so those last rides could be taken.

I still miss the wildcat.

I wouldn't mind a new spinning coaster by Mack to come. I went on the one at SFNE and I loved it!!! Probably because it was different from all of the wild mouse spinning coasters I was used to.

SV ruins all other rides.

I would love to see another water ride manufacturer come in and use the same route as the former Shoot the Rapids. Yes I know the route is boring, but at least they could keep that beautiful theme they had. Maybe put in the traditional log boats in. I know Mack makes log flumes so there you go.

Here's my deal...

A Soak City expansion makes the most sense. It would be relatively cheap and has been a long time coming. We just got Valravn. We should'nt expect more...or should we?

IMO, the rumors of RMC Mean Streak are totally out in the open. Expectations (among enthusiasts) are pretty high for that. It would feel like a cruel joke if that wasn't the plan. Everyone clearly wants it to happen. I guarantee management is aware of this. If it wasn't happening, it would be wise to at least acknowledge that Mean Streak will exist in the same form next year. That hasn't happened.

Everyone keeps saying "Its not CPs turn! Kings Island is getting a GCI!". You know what? Cedar Point brings in a tremendous amount of money. We got Millennium Force, Wicked Twister, and Dragster in 4 years. An RMC conversion is relatively cheap. It's in the cards for Cedar Fairs flagship park...

Lets throw out a bunch of possibilities that could be announced monday

GCI woodie - kings island is getting one

B&M anything - valravn was installed

Waterpark - too early to announce (kings island announced theirs in October)

I think it is something closing. This is almost a month earlier than the Valravn announcement so they would want to give us time to get our last rides in.

These arguments don't really hold up. Firstly, there is very little connection between what two different parks receive in a given year. Decisions for new attractions are made independently, based on revenue, attendance and perceived need. So just because Kings Island gets an _________ doesn't mean any other park in the chain can't get one too. Anybody recall a little ride called 'Windseeker'?

Secondly, there is no logic to suggest that a given park can't go to the same well two or more years in a row. For example, in 2002 Cedar Point installed Wicked Twister, by Intamin. In 2003, it was Top Thrill Dragster by....you guessed it. That being said, I doubt they'll build another Beemer next year, mostly because B&M anything tend to be very expensive additions.

As for the timing of announcements, there is very little pattern to when they're made. Although they tend to happen in the second half of the operating season, these can vary wildly. Again, you can't look to one park's actions to predict another's.

That being said, I'm betting Project 2017 will be the long-delayed in-park Hooters franchise...

I absolutely hate the "turn" argument.

Any build up to be let down if they don't about an RMC of MS is purely and solely on the Few here that are sure it is coming. The park management doesn't 'owe' anyone here anything. And for that matter, outside of Tony, they probably don't know this site exists.

Whatever they do, likely Soak City expansion following the other parks capital expenditure processes, it will most likely be pre-announced like mantis and then actually announced around Golden Tickets.

The only thing that makes me think CP is getting more than soak city is the fact that Golden Tickets are held there this year, and they may want to make a Big Bang announcement.

Please ignore my ignorance, but why is the RMC/GCI revamp of Mean Streak so strong this year? I haven't been to the park enough to check out the area around the ride.

Management is undoubtedly aware this site exists...

I'm sure at some levels yes... Do they make any decision based on it... No.

No, they don't make decisions based on what us few enthusiasts want. But they do make decisions based on what's the biggest and the best for Cedar Point. And they are perfectly aware of how great RMC's are by now.

Which explains why they are using RMC at every one of their parks?

It's not like they don't have a large group of wood coasters spanning the continent that could be redone.

And cedar fair has a track record of testing at other parks before using it at CP

My friend that lives in Kent is hopeful that this isn't the end of Geauga Lake's Wildwater Kingdom. I hope for the sake of that property that they keep the water park intact too!

They undoubtedly take our thoughts into account as well. It just might not seem like it since there are so many other things that they have to account for as well. We are not ignored but oftentimes our wishes are not what is best for business.

It explains why they have teased RMC on at least three separate occasions over the last two years. A random slide showing an RMC at Coaster Camp Out, and two 'to do' lists on Twitter.

Plus, is Six Flags Great America has one... you know it's only a matter of time before Cedar Point gets one.

They did that with Turnpike Cars.
